Fiji
By Sheila - Fiji - 26 Aug/03 - Viewed 2806 times.

The fiji experience didn't start well as the service on flight FJ821 was nowhere near as good as on the first leg from Vancouver to Honolulu. We didn't even get our Muffins and Danish Pastries prior to arrival as promised on the menu and by the Captain at the start of the flight.

Take off time was 00:35 and landing 05:10 so it was imperative to get some sleep but i found this almost impossible. When we arrived we were feeling a bit bleary eyed and forgot our original intention to draw out some money at the ATM at the airport, which Mark had told us would be much cheaper than at the hotel.

The hotel shuttle was waiting though and the journey to Fiji Mocambo only a few minutes. The air felt much colder than the night air had been in Honolulu.

As it turned out there ws no ATM at the hotel so we had no money to tip the old porter who we were afraid was about to expire after carrying our bags up 2 flights of stairs.

We decided to try to get a couple of hours sleep before breakfast as it was still dark.

We spent the day fretting about how/where to get money and water, both problems being solved by John who after gleaning the necessary information from a man we took to be the resident golf professional, walked 20 mins up the road in the afternoon heat to some local shops while i slept. (We had been told it was only 10 mins walk!)

After dinner in the hotel we had an early night.
