The taxi driver form Vancouver airport to Aston Rosellen Suites was more of a man racer - he drove fast without disturbing our comfort - when he made a last minute manoeuvre to avoid crashing into a stationary lane of traffic we hardly noticed!

It was a very hot night and everyone was wandering around in shorts. The suite was very nice and they had thoughtfully left a fan on in the room but it was still hardly bareble. The Rosellen suites are in a nice quite residential area right by Stanley Park.

After a fitful nights sleep we got up early and went for a wander. Although cloudy, it was still far to hot to eat indoors so we bought some bananas and fruit bread and breakfasted in stanley park by the lost lagoon, by which time we had just about cooled down.

After packing up our bags and leaving them in the apartments office we walked the short distance to Spokes, one of many bike hire shops and hired a couple of bikes. A 7 speed cruiser was C$17.50 for half a day (3-6 hours). Prices quoted are without tax.

By this time it was nearly time for lunch so we stopped at The Fish House just inside the park. The service was excellent and the salmon fish cakes like no fish cakes we had ever tasted and very reasonable at C$16.95. We had a table by the window with extensive views over the park.

We then took a leisurely ride around the sea wall route, where there was plenty to see including horse drawn coaches, totem poles, sulphur mountains, a coal barge, sea planes, boats, bridges and mountains. Finally we stopped at the Tea House for a drink, by which time the sun had come out.

The taxi to the airport was booked for 4:30 so after returning the bikes we strolled back to the appartment building stopping on the way to watch the tennis players in the park.

The return taxi journey was smoooooth!
